little city big fun

This is River City
We've got four rivers, countless streams, lakes and ponds for splashing, fishing and racing, too!

Sports Illustrated Magazine calls Rockford "Illinois' Sportstown USA." You name the sport and there's a good chance it's played here by amateurs and professionals, alike.

We have 20,000 acres of parks and preserves, four rivers, countless streams, many gardens (including the best Japanese garden in North America), and one of Illinois' finest state parks, Rock Cut State Park.

We're also Illinois' "Holiest City," and we're not talking about churches - although we've got plenty of those, too. You can't swing a flag stick without hitting a, well, flag stick on one of our great golf courses. And the green fees are lower than the bent grass.

And Rockford is blessed with a bounty of cultural experiences from art, natural history and living history museums to performing arts, night clubs, festivals and special events. Beautiful and historic venues like the Coronado Theatre offer performances by the Rockford Symphony Orchestra and a popular Broadway series.

No matter your passion - and whether you're a spectator or a player or performer - you'll find this an incredibly easy place to do what you do best.
